Pork & Garlic Chives Dumplings

Not sure about you, but there is something so comforting about spending a lazy Sunday in the kitchen, making something that I’ve been craving for a long time. Then just sit back, relax in front of TV and indulge myself with delicious food that I know all my effort that I put in have been paid off. Tasting the sweet success and the labor of love is truly a well satisfying experience.
There are lots of restaurants in Sydney you can try the dumplings. Any chinese restaurant that serves northern chinese cuisine will have dumplings on the menu. And also any Japanese restaurants will serve Gyoza, especially the Ramen noodle shops. Here to name a few:
  • Din Tai Fung, World Square – pricey but one of the best in town
  • Shanghai Night, Ashfield – best value for money and quality is as good as Din Tai Fung so I heard
  • Chinese Noodle Restaurant, Haymarket – very small restaurant, ready to queue up
  • Sea Bay Restaurant – cheap and cheerful
  • Da Niang Dumpling, Haymarket

500 gram pork mince
1 bunch garlic chives (chopped)
3 cloves garlic (chopped)
1 packet of dumpling skin (30 skins)

Sesame Oil
2 tbsp rice wine
Salt & Pepper to taste
Methods
1. Add all ingredients into a large bowl (except the dumpling skins) and mix well together.

At the upper left hand corner of the photo, this is "Chicken wings and eggs with Chinese Marinade sauce", Chinese Marinade is a sauce which likes soy sauce in a sweet taste, you can buy the sauce in supermarkets.

Making this dish is easy, all you need is:
1. Chinese Marinade sauce (14Oz)

3. Eggs (3-4, depends on how many people)
4. Chicken wings (1kg)

How to cook?
First, put all the Chinese Marinade sauce into the pot, then put 3-4 bowls of water with it as the sauce is concentrated. When the sauce was boiled, add a little bit of sugar to make it sweeten and stir it, then put the eggs and chicken wings into the pot as well, finally put the cover on and cook for about 30-45 minutes.

The second dish is beef serve with Singaporean Curry which is down of the "Chicken wings and eggs with Chinese Marinade sauce". To make it, it is also very easy to make it. The ingredient you need will be:
1. Singaporean Curry pack ( it is easy to find in Chinese grocery stores )
( In the pack, you may find curry sauce and coconut powder)
2. Beef (500g)
3. Bean curd puff ( can be found in Chinese grocery stores )

How to cook?
First, stir-fry the beef, then add 3-4 bowls of water into it and wait until boiled. When it was boiled, put the bean curd puff and curry sauce into the boiled water and stir it until it boiled again, then you can put the coconut powder into it and cook for 30 minutes.

The last dish is boiled lettuce. The reason I made the boiled lettuce is because if you like the sauce, you can serve it with those Chinese Marinade sauce or curry.

Design Layout

After the first post, we further discussed on how we would like to design our blog. Then we made a rough draft of the layout of the blog. By putting the first post, our group began to get familiar with compiling the blog. We have made slight changes toward the color and background of blog heading and gadgets on the basis of the template. We designed to make some interesting gadgets to attract the attention of audiences, such as the use of slide show and video bar, etc. The above is the layout draft of our blog. By knowing what we need to put on the blog, we will regularly start to post. We will continously post according to the design draft and make changes if necessary in the future. All the components in the blog will contribute to the attractiveness of the topic.

Chinese Barbecue Buffet

Tonight, I went to a barbecue restaurant called Qianyuan in Eastwood. Actually, we can roast food by ourselves. The restaurant provides a lot of kinds of food, such as lamb, beef, seafood, vegetables and chicken wings. Before we roast food, we can choose to eat some cold dishes.Consumers could take some cold dishes to their plates. The staff in the restaurant would also roat food for customers when customers require.

Chinese Barbecue Buffet is a good experience that people can roast the food by themselves. The experience itself is amazing. Even vegetarians could enjoy the roasted food. The common condiments for roasting the food are salt, cumin and paprika. People could control the amount of condiments they put on the food according to their preferences. People don't like spicy food would prefer to put less paprika on the food.

The restaurant would also provide some desserts for consumers, such as ice cream, green bean soup and pudding. I recommend to drink some herbal tea when eating the roasted food, because it could make people feel cool. Chines Barbecue Buffet is a good choice for gathering several friends. People can chat together while roasting the food. It contains a lot of fun for both eating and cooking food!
